This Handle was Born on the River...

...from an inspiration that materialized while its inventor was steelhead fishing on the famous McKenzie River in Oregon. "I started noticing how often I'd have to stop fishing or put the rod in my other hand or stretch my hand muscles due to fatigue" says Kevin Jenson. He set to work to make a fishing rod handle that would fit the wrist and become an extension of the arm.

Kevin made several prototypes and tried them all. "Even the first prototype provided an amazing difference in control and sensitivity when fighting a nice steelhead" recalls Jenson. After several years of development and refinement the COBRA Rod Handle System emerged and patents were applied for.

The final result: it fits the arm with a natural offset and angle, provides increased rod control and, because of the contact of the handle on the underside of the forearm, increases sensitivity.

The COBRA Rod Handle System can be installed on a new custom built rod by your favorite custom rod builder, or you can convert a new or existing rod by retrofitting the COBRA Rod Handle to it. Once installed, the new handle system can be set up for right hand retrieve, left hand retrieve or an optional straight adapter is available. Three screws secure the handle to the grip which is permanently installed on the rod blank interlocked with the reel seat.
