How to Make Grip Inlays

Materials for Grip Inlays
1. Pattern (2 copies) on traced on paper
2. Exacto Knife
3. Color EVA Inlay Sheets
4. EVA Grips
5. Contact Cement and Rubber Paper Glue
6. Sandpaper (80 Grit and 600 Grit)

Step 1

Carefully cut out both patterns using Exacto knife.

Step 2

Coat one cut out pattern figure with rubber cement and glue it to the inlay sheet.

Step 3

Carefully trace figure with Exacto knife, cutting through the colored EVA sheet. Continue cutting until figure snaps out of sheet easily. Peel paper pattern off figure. You should end up with the pattern cut out in the colored EVA strip.

Step 4

Coat second figure with rubber cement and place on grip.

Step 5

Trace the figure on grip with tip of knife. Be sure not to skip any area around the pattern. Go only as deep as the thickness of inlay sheet. Peel paper off grip. You should end up with the grip having an out line of the pattern cut into it.

Step 6

Dig our (with Exacto) the area on grip with knife making sure not to go deeper than the thickness of the inlay sheet. Cut a groove gradually. Remember, you can always cut away more if needed. Place figure in the groove to check fit.

Step 7

Coat the groove and the figure with contact cement and wait 15 minutes for glue to set up and then five it a second coat of glue. After letting both areas dry, coat the figure once more and while glue is still wet place it in the groove and press it into place.

Step 8

After glue cures overnight sand entire grip with 80 grit sandpaper. Finish with fine grit (600).

Mud Hole Notes:

1. For mutilcolor inlays, cut out the complete outline from the grip material with the first pattern. Cut the second pattern into individual colors and then cut each individual color out. Then assymble the individual colors into the final pattern on a seperate flat surface. Then insert the finished & guled together into the grip.
