Rod Building Tip - Wrapping Multiple Threads When wrapping a design that cals for you to wrap a number of threads at one time, use a tooth brush (Preferably a new one, soft bristles)to separate the threads and straighten them out. STEP ONE: Tape the ends of the threads to the blank. STEP TWO: Grasp the threads about three inches from the taped end. STEP THREE: place the toothbrush as close as possible to the taped end and push the bristles up thru the threads. STEP FOUR: Gently pull the toothbrush towaed the loose ends of the threads. When You have pulled the toothbrush about 4 inches from the taped end, grasp the threads behind the toothbrush and continue pulling the toothbrush to the loose ends of the thread. STEP FIVE: When you reach the ends of the threads, DO NOT LET GO. Hold the threads tight and if necessary repeat the combing with the toothbrush, following it with your fingers on the threads. You can feel it there are any crossed threads. STEP SIX: After the threads have been combed straight hold the ends and start the wrap. I have used this method to wrap up to ten threads in one run. Fishing Tips - Mako Once you start a chum slick never leave it it works but just takes time. (part of the success to chumming) Trap hook is best to keep the Mako from throwing the hook and trolling for mako make sure you troll at least 6 knotts to make sure the hooks sink. Dress your bait with a bright coloured skirt to further attaract the mako and use an IV bag with fish oil to regulate the flow and drip on the chum slick. Quickest way to kill a Mako is to drag it backwards after tail roping it. Tournament fish do not drag it backwards otherwise you will loose weight since the mako will empty its stomach contents and all the weight is important for the weigh in so keep the head out the water and tied to the side of the boat. Mako's best source of food and best catch ratio we use Barracuda--look for the barracuda and you will see Mako. Makes good bait with a skirt and for trolling fast. Chris
