In-Person Specialty Rod Building Workshop

I recently attended the Mud Hole In-Person Basic Rod Building Course, and it was an outstanding experience. The workshop was well-organized, hands-on, and truly beginner-friendly. Every instructor there was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping each student build a great rod.

I walked away with new skills, more confidence, and a rod I’m proud of — plus a deeper appreciation for the craft. I’m already looking forward to attending more Mud Hole workshops in the future. Highly recommend this class to anyone interested in learning rod building the right way.

Everything you need to build your first rod. Took my son to this class. The class was great and started promptly, don't be late. There were 5 instructors there to guide and answer your questions. When you are done you get to take all the tools you used home. This is an awesome deal. There were demonstrations on other things to do when building your custom to give it more personality and how to repair your old rods during day 2. Dollar for dollar, 5 instructors, 2 day class with demonstrations, a finished fishing rod, and the tools to build more at home. You can't beat this deal. Looking forward to the specialty class.

The course is great, I highly recommend this for anyone interested in fishing and enjoys building things.

Day 1 is essentially your complete build day. There are many knowledgeable instructors available to assist with the intricacies of properly building your rod.

Day 2 is an essentially a Q&A day and the day you receive your completed rod. The instructors go over rod repair and other more advanced techniques for rod building. Ask any question you want and I’m sure the instructors will be able to answer your question far above what you expected.

Again, I highly recommend this course. My father and I had a fantastic time.

When I showed up for the beginners rod building class Todd noticed I was having trouble wrapping my guides, I explained I had forgotten my magnifying head set at home (60 miles away) . moments later he handed me a set. Saved the day for me . Then he whent on to show me some tricks to make my rod look outstanding. His ability to share his years of rod building experience with the class made the whole thing pleasant and informative. The rest of the instructors all shared their own unique experiences and skills. We all learned a lot during the class and all left with great great personalized rods. The rod the class and equipment we left with were a good value.

The specialty rod building class in Oviedo Florida was fantastic. The knowledge of the 4 instructors was wonderful. They help you along the way to make the best rod you can make. From finding the spine to tying the guides. Then brining the rod outside and throwing the line just fantastic. Take a class and you will be hooked. From beginning to end just great.
